The Moncton
Nationals provided a thrilling end to the season for the Red Hawks!
After finishing 1 &
2 on the first two days the girls were off to Odyssey school Sunday morning for
a quarter-final match against Metro in Tier Three. They made short work of
Metro winning two straight games where they completely dominated the play.
Back to the Tim Horton’s Ice Palace we went where we had a match against the
Griffiths who beat us on day one. This was the match of the tournament for
us after they forced a game three to determine who was going home early.
The girls pulled it together and won a thrilling game 16 – 14. With the
parents on the brink of heart attacks, they cheered their team to victory.
In true Durham
spirit, DRVC who had just been eliminated joined the cheering section to assist
in the support the girls needed to move on to the finals. The final game
was a good game but we came up short, but were front and centre to receive our
well deserved Silver medals.
It was a long way to
travel but it was certainly worth the trip. The volleyball was great and the
down time provided lots of opportunity for some fun times. The summer is
now upon us and everyone cant wait for the fall when we can start all over
again.
