With an absolutely amazing end to the season, the 18U Girls brought home the Tier One Bronze medal from Abbotsford, British Columbia.  This is the first time an Ontario team has medaled at Nationals at this age level since 2000.

ok, well this is a provincials picture, but as soon as we get some photos I'll change it!

After traveling to British Columbia and enjoying the scenery and the city, the girls settled down to achieve the goal they set for themselves.  The first day pools left Attack in second place in their pool after defeating Alberta Putsch and Manitoba Predator and losing one close match to BCO Elite.

On Saturday the girls began the day winning in three sets against the Alberta #1 seed, the Dinos, and in two sets against the Alberta Wolves.  The tension was rising as the girls needed one game from the Saskatchewan 1 team, the Radz, in order to continue in Tier One.  The first game the girls struggled in a 14-25 loss, however in their typical fashion the girls fought hard, defended well and pulled together to win 25-16.  This clenched their Tier one placement to head into the finals on Sunday.

It was on Ontario quarter final as we met the National Capitals.  Our strong defense and hitting skills dominated the first game with 25-21. The Capitals took the second game and once again the girls were able to regroup and come from behind the win the third 15-10.

In the Semi’s the girls were up against the strong home town Fraser Valley team, who eventually went on to win the tournament.  Opposing parents were impressed with the skills of our young team as we battled hard, losing 20-25, 17-25.

The rematch against BCO Elite for the Bronze medal again saw the girls determined to have Ontario represented on the medal podium.  Again the tension was high as they had to pull from behind after losing the first game 23-25.  A few play changes and some impressive blocking were effective as Attack girls went on to win 25-21 and 15-12!

Congratulations to the Attack 18U Girls and their coaches for an excellent season !!
