The
17U Boys went to the Provincial Championships ready to play.
They started the first day coming first in their pool against Ottawa
and the Titans. After a four hour wait they played Pakmen 212 in
the crossover match winning two straight sets 25-16 & 25-15.
Day 2
started by playing Toronto West. Durham stayed strong taking
T-West in two 25-23 & 25-16.
In the
Semi-Finals Durham faced Ottawa Kangaroos for the second time in the
tournament. Ottawa played very well, but once again Attack came
through winning in three sets - 18-25, 25-20 & 15-13.
The
Gold medal match is why every team attends Provincials... the desire
to get there. Attack worked hard to get there and they weren’t
going to hand it over without a fight. Pakmen, who are the 2006
National Champions, gave them a work out in the first game winning
25-18. Attack fought back starting the 2nd game roofing the
Pakmen for five straight putting themselves on the scoreboard.
The boys kept going one amazing play after another; it was amazing to
watch to see what this team was capable of when they pulled together
for a common goal. They won game point with a reverse X that hit
the rafters. The final score was 25-17.
This
brought us to Game 3. Pakmen won the race to 8, but Attack
didn't give up there. They kept fighting ... to a final score of
15-12 in favour of the Pakmen.
The
guys had a fantastic tournament. They didn't stop until the
final whistle was blown. Taking home the Silver medal at
provincials is something to be very proud of. Congrats guys!
As
coaches we want to thank the boys & their parents for a great season.
We are looking forward to Nationals in B.C.!
