The 15U Black girls team traveled to Ottawa on March 31 to play in Tier 1 16U Bugarski Cup.

As luck would have it, they were in the same pool as the 16U Black team, and as more luck would have it, they were the first team we faced in pool play.  If the girls were nervous, they did not show it, and were determined to show their older sister team that they wanted a win against them.  After a hard fought match however, the 16U team prevailed with a 2 game win.

The girls went into the next match immediately, against the National Capitals.  The girls were unsuccessful in this match as well in spite of good effort.

Following a somber lunch, the girls met their other sister team, 16U Red in the crossover match.  The 16U Red team’s determination to climb the ranks in Tier 1 was evident; they were successful in overpowering our girls in two games.

Now the girls were set to meet the loser of another crossover match, who was, (any guesses?), the Scarborough Titans Synergy.  Both of these teams were battle weary, but I believe our girls had the mental edge after being beaten by two Durham Attack Teams in the same day.  They were NOT going to be beaten by the Titans!  As was expected, this was an exciting match to watch as these two teams are so evenly matched and hungry for wins.  It was point-for-point for most of both games, and lots of fingernails were lost by parents on both sides.  What fun to watch, and according to the girls, what fun to play!  This was an important win for 15U Black, and they finished off the day by winning against Forest City Blue in 2 games.  The girls held onto their 9th place in 16U Tier 1, and are anxious to finish even higher in the 16U Provincials at the end of April.
