Home > Durham Attack | Hawks Finish 7th in Ottawa
|
In Ottawa, the Durham Attack 16U REDHAWKS earned the 7th seed to take into
Provincials later this month in Cambridge.
After finishing 2nd in their pool, the HAWKS were matched up with Durham Attack
15U Black in the cross-over for the second straight tournament. After
having a comfortable 23 - 19 lead in Set 1, Attack Black came back strong to set
up a very exciting first set. After trading points with exciting rallies the
REDHAWKS finally ended the first set winning 28-26. The HAWKS used this momentum
in Game 2 to win the Match 2-0.
This set us up against Waterloo Tigers in the quarter final. The girls
were excited heading into the match with the possibility of reaching our goal of
top 4 in the tournament. The girls played well but unfortunately couldn't
get many attacks through the BIG Block of the Tigers, who went on to win Set 1.
In set 2 the Tigers were able to continue their strong play at the net forcing
the girls to be creative offensively. Down 18-12 the HAWKS slowly started
to figure out ways pass the block spreading out the offence and had tied the
game at 18. The Tigers were able to defeat the Hawks 25-21 to win the
Match 2-0.
In the final two matches of the day the REDHAWKS looked disappointed that their
goal of top four was not to be met. However they did play some good
volleyball to place 7th heading into Provincials.
