On February 17 for the U13 Girls Tier 1 Open, the U13 Durham Attack
Black girls team played in Whitby, coming home with satisfying Silver.
Yesterday, the U13 girls passed, set, and hit against every team they
played, coming back from each game undefeated, until the Gold medal
match.
In pool play, the ladies started off by playing DRVC Blue, a familiar
team to the girls, and beating them with ease with the scores of 25-13
and 25-15. The next and last pool play game was against Oakville
Thunder, starting off with a close game but ended off with a victory
to Durham Attack, with a score of 25-22. But, we came back and beat
them again with a score of 25-15.
After pool play, the ladies found out that for the quarter finals,
they would be playing against fellow attack-ers, Durham Attack Red.
This was a very exciting game, and started off with the girls beating
Durham Attack Red, with a score of 25-19. The next game ended off with
a close win for Red, and a score of 23-25. Hungry for another win,
Black succeeded with an extremely satisfying win over Red with a score
of 15-13.
In the Semi-finals, the girls played against another familiar team,
the Etobicoke Titans. The girls came out in the first game with an
easy win of 25-17. The next game wasn't as easy, but we ended off with
another victory against the Titans and a score of 25-22.
The ladies had passed, set, and hit all the way to the gold medal
match, which was against Storm Thunder. The ladies had played Storm
Thunder twice in this season before in the finals and had beat them
both times. Unfortunately, this pattern did not continue as Storm beat
us in both games with close scores of 21-25 and 23-25. Both games were
an excellent example of amazing volleyball. The girls passed, set,
hit, digged, tipped, blocked, covered and served really well.
This tournament ended off with a first-time Silver in the U13
age-group for Attack Black, but all the girls, coaches, and parents
were proud. As for Storm Thunder, we'll get ya next time! GOOOOOO
ATTACK!!!!!
Also, thank you coaches and parents for your great encouragement to
the team!
