2005 Fitness Training

The club will again offer fitness training for both male and female athletes this year through Monica Dyment.

Monica Dyment has been an elementary teacher in the Durham Board for 18 years, where her coaching experience includes cross country, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball and track.  As an avid runner and fitness enthusiast for many years, she decided to pursue a part-time career in the fitness industry, earning her certification as a Personal Trainer with Can-Fit-Pro in 1999. Since that time, she has worked with a variety of clients, one-on-one, as well as in group training. In addition, she has twice instructed the Half Marathon clinic at the Running Room, training a large group of athletes to safely and successfully complete a half marathon race.

The fitness program designed for Durham Attack athletes will consist of a 90 minute session, once a week, and will include:

  • Endurance and cardiovascular training
  • Exercises to enhance muscular strength
  • Core conditioning
  • Stretching and flexibility components
  • Sessions will be run on Wednesday night from 6:15 - 7:45 at John Bosco Public School in Oshawa.  The cost for the 10-week program is $125.  The deadline for signing up is September 30, 2005.
