The 15U Black
girls team traveled to Windsor on November 25 to enter their first 16U
tournament of the season; the Provincial Cup, Tier 2.
Pool play saw the
girls defeat Toronto Toros 25-5, 25-13, Toronto West 25-22, 25-18, and
Burlington Blaze 25-17, 25-22.
The crossover
match was against our ‘big sister’ team, 16U Red, which was won 25-15, 25-18.
In the
semi-finals, the girls met the South County Bandits. This match went to three
games, but was finally won 22-25, 25-16, 14-9.
We then met
Scarborough Titans Synergy (15U) again! for the gold medal match. As expected,
this team made the girls work very hard for the win, which they earned 25-23,
15-25, 15-12. DA spectators also had to work hard trying to avoid (not
always successfully) intense Titan players.
In two weeks, the
girls will travel to the other end of the province (Ottawa) to defend the 15U
gold medal. Then it’s on to Tier 1 to meet the 16U players in January.
