The 15U Black girls’
team spent Saturday, November 17 finally doing some ‘real’ work. They were
‘Celebrity Servers’ at the Boston Pizza on Brock Road in Pickering, and instead
of serving volleyballs, they spent the afternoon serving food.
This Boston Pizza restaurant is one of our sponsors, and has given the girls a
box with their name on it situated by the door, for patrons to put their receipt
in when they are finished their meal. Our team then receives a percentage of the
receipts deposited.
The girls spent the
afternoon learning the ropes around a restaurant, from how to make and serve the
food, to cleaning up afterwards. Customers were so impressed with their
skills, that they were happy to put their receipts in the Durham Attack box. As
always, we were proud of how our girls presented themselves and the club.
One of the biggest highlights, however, was parents having their daughters
finally serving them!
