Amy McGrath and Kayla Donahue took home the bronze medal in the 14U age
category!
The rain on Friday's day of pool play did not dampen the spirits of these two
young athletes who were thrilled to meet, mingle with and watch the top beach
volleyball talent in Canada. The pair finished up first in their pool and
looked strong coming into Saturday's elimination rounds. Unfortunately,
after a strong day of play, they met their match in the semi finals where a team
from Alberta took them down. The pair pulled themselves together in the
bronze medal match to come back and win their right to the podium in two
straight sets.
Ontario was the big winner on the August 25-26th weekend at Volleyball Canada's
2006 Beach Nationals Competition as the host province collected 8 out of 10
titles in the youth divisions during a thrilling 2 days of competition at
Ashbridges Bay in downtown Toronto. All in all a great experience!
