Durham Attack
Volleyball Club has just completed its most successful season ever, with
hundreds of players attending its house league and summer camps, its
girls’ teams finishing top 3 in Ontario in every age group and winning 5
out of 7 Provincial championships and 4 National championships, and
numerous players awarded spots on Provincial and National teams. But what
excites the club the most is the growing interest in volleyball and the
complete program they offer athletes in Durham Region.

 |
Janet Cairns,
director of the girls' program, reflects "As we plan for competitive team
tryouts in September, we are equally excited about the new programs we
will be offering. We have had incredible success this past season, and it
has caused us to think about our roots. Ultimately the success of our club
is due to the ability and passion of our coaches, and their ability to
instill a love for volleyball in our players at a young age. As we have
thought about this, we've decided we want to give more back to the
community, especially to new and developing players, as this is where it
all starts."
|
According to
Scott Burrows, Club president and director of the boys' program
"Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world, and is growing
by leaps and bounds. We are seeing more and more interest in playing, with
hundreds of players in our summer camps and in our house league. We are
unique in Ontario in that we cover the complete spectrum." Durham
Attack's program includes:
|
- Our new
SPIKES program for girls 7-12, a perfect lead-in to our house league.
SPIKES is an Ontario Volleyball Association-sponsored program designed
to teach volleyball to the starting player. This is a first in
Durham Region.
|
- House
League, our Volleyball Canada award-winning recreational program that
teaches skills and love for our sport, building players who can progress
to our competitive teams. Coached by our coaches and our national-calibre
players, it offers a great environment for developing skill in a sport
that is truly fun to play.
|
-
Competitive teams designed to accommodate players at various skill
levels, ranging from new competitive volleyball players, to seasoned
players wishing to compete at higher levels. Our goal is to provide
