What is cheerleading all about?

Brian:

My daughter has just turned 10 and has been a cheerleader for 3 years. She started cheering for my husbands football team and has moved into the competitive arena. The quality of your experience will be determined mostly by the people running the program. They will also influence how the cheerleaders are viewed/treated by the football squads and or parents. As an active parent as well as president of our youth association, I encourage you to take an active role. Since your daughter has not cheered before, if you're considering competition, football cheerleading is a good introduction. I'd also suggest checking out some of the cheerleading sites this fall for competitions in your area that you can observe. Look for the UCA, NCA, ECA official sites. I wish you and your daughter a positive experience. It can truly become a positive force in her life if handled properly.
