Should I try-out?
By: Sherry
Yes! Although you did not include any specific problems in your request, as a cheerleading coach I am fully aware of how negativity can affect a squad. What we have to remember though, is that we make it what it is. To combat this, we need to maintain a positive "I can/we can" attitude. Recognize when things start happening which are going to change the focus of the squad. Then, do everything in your power to bring it back to the positive. There are many things that can take the fun out of cheerleading. Ask yourself what happened this year. Was there anything you could have done about it? If so, next time do it! Realize also that each squad is made up of different personalities and sometimes the mix tends to breed negative events. Don't get involved in these if you can't stay positive. If back biting is going on, be confident and let your team mates know that not only don't you approve of it, but you won't take part in it, either. Always focus on the positive, encourage your team mates and you can help to make it a great season. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude may just be contagious. Be proud to be a cheerleader and stick to it!
