A few question ons cheerleading...

Christy:
I'm sure your gymnastics experience will help you in making the squad. This has taught you to have control of your body and how to stay tight. Some squads require splits and back handsprings while others do not. You should speak with the coach of the squad you are trying out for. I do not require either of those things, however, I do consider someone who can an asset to the squad. The main thing to remember when trying out for a squad, and later being a squad member, is to maintain a positive "I can/we can" attitude. Our tryout practices are designed to teach everything one needs to know in order to make the squad while giving those with the skills you mentioned, as well as other skills, an opportunity to showcase them. We are at the high school level. All star squads may have different requirements. Again, speak with the coach and go for it!
