3/26/98 2) Game winning run on third, two outs. Ground ball to second and is fielded cleanly. The second baseman sees the runner trying to score - should he throw home to get the runner before he scores? (No, go to first because that is the easiest play) What if the runner on third scored before he got the batter out at first, would the run count? (No, no run can score when the last out of an inning is the batter going to first) 3) Runner on first tries to steal second but changes his mind and is now trying to get back to first - how can you get him out? (Must tag him) 4) Runner on first takes a big lead, and the catcher fires to first trying to get him out. If the first baseman catches the throw before the runner gets back, does the first baseman have a choice on tagging him or the base? (He must tag the runner) 5) Can a runner steal second or third even if the catcher handles the ball cleanly? (Yes) Can a batter try for second base if ball four is a wild pitch or passed ball, or does he have to stop at first? (He can run as far as he wants) 6) A runner is on first and a ball is hit into the outfield that gets past the outfielder, should the pitcher stay on the mound until he knows where the ball is going to be thrown to? (No, get between third and home in foul territory) 7) On a bunted ball down first which stays fair, who should be covering first base and second base? 8) Runner on first steals second, but on his slide he goes past the base as the shortstop gets the ball. If the shortstop steps on second with the ball before the runner gets back to the bag, is he out? (No, he must tag the runner)
9) The only runner on base is on second, less than two outs. A ground ball is hit to short and he fields it cleanly. What are the different ways he can get this runner out if he is caught between the bases? There are four different ways. (Tag the runner himself, throw to third and let the third baseman tag him out, get him in a rundown and tag him, or if he goes back to second throw to the second baseman and he tags him) 10) Ground ball between first and second, what should the pitcher do, and how? (Get to foul line and then run to first to take the throw) 11) What is the most important thing a pitcher can do when he’s on the mound? (Throw strikes) 12) One out, 3-2 count on the batter. Runner on first attempts to steal second and the batter foul tips the ball into the catcher’s mit for strike three. Does the runner have to go back to first? (No, foul tipped balls caught by the catcher are live). What if the ball wasn’t caught by the catcher? (Must go back)

1)/ Runner on second base, less than two outs. Fly ball is caught by the right fielder, but the runner at second took off for third before the catch. The runner is now trying to get back to second before the throw gets there - how can you get him out? (Tag him or the base)
(Second baseman covers first, shortstop covers second)
