A common problem with kids is they throw across their body (for a RHP, his stride foot lands on the 3rd base side of the ball of his foot), or opens up too far (RHP's stride foot is too far to the 1st base side). I don't want my pitchers looking at their feet when they are coming to the plate, so instead I place a folded up towel in the areas I want them to avoid. If they feel their stride foot hit a towel, they know they haven't done it right. At first they'll sneak peeks at the towels, but if you stay on them to focus only on the catcher, they will eventually trust their mechanics and do it second nature. Works like a charm!
