This is a great drill to get your players watching the ball all the way in when trying to bunt. Gut a wooden oar, the type used on a small canoe, and cut a circular hole in the paddle section approximately 4-5" in diamter. You will also need to cut down the length of the handle so the boys can manuver the oar "bat". Place your player at the plate and pitch tennis balls to him. The idea is for the players to watch the ball in, try and "bunt" it and have the tennis ball go through the hole in the paddle. It really gets them concentrating and they enjoy the drill. We set up competition between the players and it's one of their favorite drills. We won several games because of our ability to lay down a bunt.
