catchersmom - I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to go through something like this with your son. You know, I believe that we all go through similar things but perhaps they aren't so obvious to everyone else. Trying to remember a person's name sometimes drives me crazy - you can describe the person perfectly, remember lots of things about the person, but can't place the NAME!

I'm glad that your son was able to battle back and remain a catcher. I truly believe that the best solution for this kid might be a position change. As an outfielder he'd have far fewer throws to worry about each game. It won't work for the HS team due to the need to keep the football players in the lineup, but maybe he could make the shift this summer.
