Diamond Dry

By: Joe Zander

Using Diamond Dry, I have no experience. We use Turface. Another manager showed me a simple trick a couple season's back that works well. In the low-spot areas where the water pools, dug a hole in the center big enough for a small bucket. All the water will drain into the hole. Use a bucket to empty the water and remove it from the field. If there's a lot, I cart it off in a wheel barrow. Fill the hole with dry infield mix, and rake some mix around the wet area. Afterwards, sprinkle some Turface around the area, but not too much. Once the water is gone, and the mud dispersed, the area will dry out pretty fast. By using this sytem, we cut our Turface usage way down, and still get good results.

For this season, we do have a small portable pump that we will use at our main field. I'm encourage by Neill's comments. Sounds like it should be an effective tool.
