Need some advice

For his age, his mechanics (pitching/hitting) are good, but not perfect (is there such a thing?) - he is getting pro-level coaching on the side though - we're lucky in that we have a Ex Major League pitcher in our area - he gets a 45 minute lesson once a week from him.

I (and his other LL coaches) got him in the "ballpark" and now he's getting some fine-tuning. It's amazing how little *I* really knew - compaired to the pro, and his travel team mgr. If any parent can afford it, and their kid want's to do it, I highly recommend getting lessons from an ex-pro - that has experience working with kids. It can be humbling for the parent - and great for the kid. In my case, the ex-pro has kids around the same age, and he helped one of our LL teams go to the LL World series - his own kids are really something to see.

My son still makes some mental mistakes - he's 9 after all, but he's already better than I think I was when I was 12 - I did the LL all star thing, then moved on to another sport I was better at. His Grandfather (mothers side) turned down a pro contract - he was more interested in putting food on the table for his family than trying to work up from pro minors - which would have been a step down in money, and time away from a young family.

i.e. My son is not getting it from my side of the family :-)
