Ag: Kept it all in his head huh? You need to have this guy meet me sometime. By the time I'm done, he won't even be sure he knows his name! That's nothing short of stupid arrogance! ********************************************************************************* CJ, I don't see any course of action that's gonna make everyone feel satisfied. I hate to say it, but you should have left well enough alone and allowed him to kick the ball around! It sounds like you wanted something to happen so badly, you didn't even consider the possibility of just letting the dust of the past season settle. Just a word or three about one of my favorite subjects. This is just a kid! He doesn't have to learn everything immediately and doesn't have to play at the highest level possible. None of that will guarantee future success. What he does need to do however, is to have fun, which it sounds like he isn't having. Now you've put him in a position of being a quitter, which is bad, or continuing on in a situation where he's not having fun, thus risking the way he looks at baseball in the future. I think Ag's advice about one on one work with you and he, and a continued effort to gently "coax" the coach into a different course of action is probably the most sound. But remember, it is possible that there are 11 other kids and their parents who might have feelings about what's going on too. not everyone believes players should be shoved around to different positions. I think there's lots of validity to there being a "confusion" factor when kids get moved. But, I also think its good that players at least play other positions too. Knowing you're a coach, I would think you'd understand that there might be a lot of things happening you aren't fully aware of, and perhaps you aren't understanding the entire situation. Deep breathing exercises often help! LOL
