White Baseball Spikes and Cleats
By: Scorekeeper
Wow! I don't what to do here? When I argue and take the side of more freedom in uniforms, the Dinos get on my backside. Now when I take the side of keep the game "normal" the young Pups start growlin'. So, I guess I'll just forge ahead. No one has said not to have fun with the uniforms, no one has said uniformity is a bad thing, and certainly no one has said not to buy white shoes! If it makes you feel good, have everyone get yellow shoes with purple stripes! I think those of us that "suggest" not going with white baseball cleats have been there, done that, or something similar, and found out it might have been wiser to do something else. If it were up to me, I'd say brown on brown uniforms with brown shoes! Maybe green knee patches would be ok too. But that's only the practical side of me talkin'. Unless you've been to a high profile tournament where there'll be lots of camera time and, scouts watchin', you may not quite understand. Its tough on ol' dad to find a Laundromat in a strange city every couple of nights to get the uniforms washed, dried and ironed. And who do you think is polishing the shoes every night while "the boys" head to the mall or movie with a couple of parents with an Escalade, Suburban or Navigator. Do you have any idea how tough it is to find someplace to wash a baseball cap because the sweat lines look bad when you're not at home with access to a dishwasher? ML players have a clubhouse guy to shine shoes and the like, but have you ever tried to get kids at a tournament to take care of the white or bright yellow uniforms they just had to have? Do you have any idea how bad a kid feels who tears a pair of pants that has to be special ordered or to have something happen to the white spikes, like losing one? Then when you show up at the game with a pair of pants or shoes you ran down to the local sporting goods store to get and the manager says you can't play because it would make the whole team look bad, so you end up begging kid on the bench to use theirs. Look, do whatever yanks your yo yo, but think ahead a little bit and realized there are pros and cons to what you're doin'! I'm just suggesting that you keep everything a generic as possible until the time comes when there's a reason you want to catch someone's eye so they'll watch your team. like a scout. Just trying to save ya a few bucks.
