White Baseball Spikes and Cleats

Why?

I'm not saying is a bad thing, but usually when I hear about something like that or see a team doing it, all they're trying to do is somehow set themselves apart with something that adds nothing to the game what-so-ever.

We have a local private school here who's base color is red. The catcher must have red gear and the players must have red shoes. They sure catch your eye when you see them run onto the field for the first time, but that's all it does! Its nothing but eyewash, and expensive eyewash at that. What ends up happening is, they can't use that equipment when they play with other teams because the other teams want uniformity too.

If all you're doing is trying to make the kids look distinctive, don't bother! Spend the money on nicer shirts, hats or pants. Then spend more time teaching them baseball skills so their distinction is that they play much better than everyone else rather than look better.

Of course if you have some big sponsor who's willing to fork out the bucks, that's a different story.

But try to keep in mind that 10 year olds will most likely not be able to use those shoes next season, and a few will grow out of them in one season.
