LLWS Championship

A lot of throwing isn't going to affect every kid the same way, or even affect the same kid the same way on different occasions. My beef with high pitch counts is that other people see them and then assume its ok for every kid in every situation and that just isn't so.

The other day during the Japan/Curacao game they were talking about the one kid who has throw 108 pitches before he throws in a game, and how they had talked him into cutting it down to 60 for the LLWS.

Obviously, he's used to doing it and has been doing it for a very long time. But how many kids, heck how many people of any age could do that for very long? That boy has trained himself to be a marathon man, but if a "normal kid would do that, in a month he'd be in a sling.

Alvey is big, strong, and judging by his facial hair and acne, he's about at the same physical maturity point my 16 YO son is. So, obviously he will be able to withstand more physical demands than most 12 YO's. But people don't take those things into consideration. All they'll remember next spring is this 12 YO who threw 100's of pitches every game and wasn't bothered.

I go back to my original premise, there's no reason to do that when a kid is 12! Does anyone seriously think any college or pro scout is coming back to check on him 5 years from now?
