9 Year Old Hitting Help

By: Chris Jarvis
Add to Mixx!

If this child does not wear a batting glove, I would suggest it. Also, you might try a 16 oz. or 18 oz. bat, he may be swinging outside and contacting the bat on the neck instead of the barrel. I am head coach of the Tulsa Little League "Cougars" coach-pitch team for ages 6-7. I have found that a pitching machine that you can regulate the speed of the ball helps with their hitting. All of my kids began to hit better and stronger when the ball is pitched in the area of 40 MPH. I know this sounds fast for that age, but it does increase their hitting ability. If I can be of any further assistance, please e-mail me at cookie7086@aol.com

Hope this helps....
