Draft
By: Coach Woody
Hopper The only "set" rule for Little League is for the draft in Majors, where the only property players should exist. For minors, most leagues use the serpentine draft method. (1-6, 6-1). There should only be a manager's option (4th round). Sibling options are for the round immediately after the first sibling is drafted. In Majors: 1) Manager option is based on age. 12's in the 3rd, 11's in the 4th, 10 or 9 in the 5th. 2) Sibling options for existing property players must be exercised by the 3rd round. 2a) New property players siblings are for the round immediately after the first sibling is drafted. 3) Coach options should only be for a coach who has coached on the team for 2 years. That option must be used by the 3rd round. LL has a rule that if a player doesn't attend 50% of the tryouts for his age, then they are NOT eligible for Majors. In Minors, some leagues will blind draft (yank form a hat) any player who does not try out. The LL operation manual explains how the draft should work. most leagues have local rules to "enhance" the draft process. Good Luck!
