Brothers trying out for High School varsity team

I have two sons a junior and freshman in high school trying out for the varsity team. My jr. was on j.v. team last year and has already been told he will be on the varsity team this year. My freshman son is the only freshman to start practice with the j.v. and varsity teams the other freshman have try outs this weekend. I have asked my older son how he would feel if his brother makes varsity he says it's great he would love to play with his brother the only thing that would bother him is if his younger brother would start over him. If that does happen I think he would be so upset he would quit. My older son is a good pitcher and hitter but his fielding isn't that great where my younger son is very natural and a great overall player, he pitches and plays SS but could play any position.

How can I help my older son? He knows his brother is good and is happy for him but...

Any tips on how to teach him to field a ground ball out in front, he starts with the glove in front of him and at the last second pulls it back and fields the ball between his legs then rushes his throw, he has a very strong arm and usually has plenty of time but always seems to rush.
