Really need some expertise on . . .
By: TJ
Might I get a reply to the following? What HS? What State? What LL Program? Was the words 'Completely pointless to teach 9-10 yr old how to pitch' actually used (or paraphrased.) a) I do not believe the HS Varsity coach really meant what was heard by more than one Board member. b) Sounds to me like another and very typical 'Board' meeting......of the new era. c) Lead balloons stay on the ground for a long time. Eagles, on the other hand, are like leaders, you find them one at a time. d) Anyone inform that a typical 10 team 9-10 yr old league requires at least two pitching machines and two generators cost at a minimum about $3K plus recurring expenses for maintenance, gas, oil & storage? e) Of course I would seek out those Board Member(s) whose 2nd 9-10 yr old son is a minor league player (who just so happens to be a little intimated about live pitching.) f) Pitching Mach. for 2/3rd graders? Ok For Fourth graders? Possibly not. For Fifth graders? Probably not. For Six graders? Definitely Not. g) At what age did the respected HS Coach say it was completely beneficial to teach kids how to pitch, and that the experience contributed to the development of players pitching ability and mechanics.
