Duane -- put on your umpire hat

I have been umpiring for three years now and have done over 300 games in that time. It is stated in the L.L. Rule Book Rule 7.08 (a:3) says the runner is out if they fail to slide or attemp to get around a defensive player who has the ball and is waiting to make the tag. This does NOT say the runner MUST SLIDE!!! However, in my opinion, I would call the runner out for just trampling a guy who has teh ball waiting to make the tag. These kids are young and I go so far as to eject the runner if it at all seemed he hurt the fielder on purpose. But.. of course that's just me. Thanks.
