Choosing a team...

This past September, my 10 year old son went to several tryouts for AABC select teams for the 2000 season. He has played select baseball for the past 2 years and did extremely well at the tryouts and really stood out. Anyhow, after we left one of the tryouts my son announced to me that he wanted to play for that particular team. When I asked him why he explained that "the coaches were having fun" and "the coaches liked each other and the kids". It was easy to tell that the manager and coaches were genuinely enjoying themselves and that really set the tone for the kids. That, combined with their extensive coaching experience, made the tryout fun and gave us a glimpse of what a season playing on their team would be like. My son had 5 offers from different teams and I let him choose which one he wanted to play on. His choice was an easy one to make...

Just some food for thought. Keep the fun in the game no matter how competitive of a level you are playing on.
