For instance, assume a player goes to the plate ten times and gets four hits, walks once, and gets hit by pitch once.

Batting average is .400, but four OB% you add the walks and HBP to both the numerator and denominator (hits and official at bats)

Therefore, OB% is 6/12 or 50%.
