Cooperstown Baseball World
By: Randy Dykstra
Hopefully there will be competition!!!! in cooperstown, because its STILL ABOUT $$$$ I took a team from CA to DreamsPark last year and it was a fun tournament and really nice to go to the HOF but I doubt I'd do it twice... Plus it costs so much!!! New park will charge $425 per person... Old one $395 per person. And other family memebers still have to find alternate lodging, and food costs. Why not make lodging an option. (becasue they would make as much money!!!) --- Let's do some calculations.... 12-14 kids and 2-3 coaches... Lets say 15 total for round numbers.. Average may be higher. 15 x 425 = $6375 per team. 64 teams per week = $408000 Subtract Umpire costs $50 per game Each team is guaranteed 7 games 7 *64 =448 another 15 games for elimination rounds so 465 * 50 = $23,250 say 25K Maintenance of park.. janitors etc 10 full time at $15 per hour 8 * 15 * 40 = $6000 Now Food preparers... Say you have another 10 people working $6000 Now say you give $1000 per week to 2 guys to run the tourney or do it yourself. And security say 10 guys rotate (at least 2 guys all 24 hrs) Total of 20 K labor per week. Food costs about $20 average food costs per person per day... $20 * (960 + 20 employees) = $20,000 * 6 days $120,000
And you provide uniforms $25 per kid (High for wholesale costs) $25 * 960 = another 25,000 Costs = 190K
Leaves $218,000 per week for 10 weeks = 2.18 Million And that's not counting sponsorships.... I think I can pay the mortgage, hire a couple (3) Marketing guys (35K) and a secretary(20K) year round and and hire an accountant and still clear 2 million. HEY anyone want to invest with me and we'll make a third park and only charge $350 per person. I figure we can put downpayment on the land and secure a loan to build the fields for $200K. Need $50K start up funds... JT, Jon Toner, Paul lets do it.... Bear want it??? I figure we could each conservatively clear $250K annually...
