Humor in Sports

My coach pitch team (7/8 year olds) are in our end of the season double elimination tournament. We lost our first game and have won the next two. At our second game I told the kids a little humorous story (big animals playing the little animals in a football game) before the ball game and I think it loosened them up quite a bit.

I think that humor could play an important part in sports and I was wondering what are your thoughts about it. Also, if anyone has some humorous stories for this age group please post them here.
