Batting Lineup -- you be the coach
By: Gary Owens
Good question. I'm anxious to see what others think as well. Here's my shot at it: 1. RH hitter with speed 2. LH hitter with speed 3. Most consistent power hitter 4. Most aggressive power hitter (long ball) 5. 2nd most consistent power hitter 6. Power hitter with best speed 7. Average hitter 8. Average hitter 9. Average hitter. My reasonings are that I prefer to have my best hitters near the beginning of the line up as they will get more batting opportunities than my weaker hitters. I tend to put my speedsters at or near the top so they can create scoring opportunities by steals and possible throwing and fielding errors. I would put my LH speedster second, especially if he/she can put the ball into right and right center for my first hitter to advance past second (if he/she has not stolen second already). And I try not to forget about the bench, as I would try to place them in situations in which they would have the most success.
