How far do you go?

This really is a no brainer and it shouldn't bother you to manage your team the way you believe it should be. The key word is "manage" as in manager...aside from managing the team you're allowing yourself to become swept up in managing the politics and parents
surrounding your objectives. Keep it simple or you'll burn out quickly. Run the ballclub fairly and firmly...and tell the father if he doesn't like it...get a team of his own next season.
