Re:Speed

We can analyze body composition and its relationship to speed until we are blue in the face. There are always exceptions, like the 300 pound NFL lineman that run a faster 40 than most of us. At youth levels, the small peanut kid is usually fast because they usually wiegh less and have better cardio-respiratory (sp?) endurance. But whn those peanuts get to be twelve and thirteen, and still have not grown they find that the bigger kids are just as fast as they are. I agree the husky kid with not much muscle development may not be that fast but the big kid with decent muscle development (I am not saying lifting, I mean genetics or reaching puberty earlier) generally has good speed. I do not think strength is the ONLY factor, but it certainly does have a big impact.
