Who Are You?
By: RogerI am 40 with an angel for a wife at 42 and have 2 boys (one 12 and one 8). I played baseball as a catcher and ran track at the same time from Little League to High School when I finally was forced to choose and I chose to run track since this was where the colleges seem to show the most interest but continued to coach. My first team was my brothers 15 yr old team that I coached when I was 18. I also coached and played a little independent baseball and softball but my heart just wasn't in the softball and couldn't devote the time I needed to baseball due to track which I eventually had to quit due to injuries. I administer and run baseball camps for kids from age 7-18. I am on our local city athletic parks commission as well as our local little league board. I manage a semi-travel team as well as a Little League team. We are currently in the process of locating a piece of property to build a new field for our travel team which is the first and only of its kind in our area with hopes that more of these type teams will start up each year. That is currently on hold due to a very challenging health problem that I will beat but until I do I'm semi-disabled. BTW Bear, I need a bunch of information on how to build a field. One of my coaches is very good at this if he has the right specs to work with but I am not a very good field man so I need your help. I guess what I love about baseball is that it seems there is always something you can learn and get better at. This board has really been a blessing to me as I love to study the game from all aspects and realize the more I learn the more I realize there is still much to learn. This board also seems to be one of the friendliest and most well-mannered group of people I've been associated with on the net. As for my profession I own a very successful insurance business plus some nice commercial rental property. God has blessed me and I try to give some back to the kids with both my time and money. Baseball is my golf and fishing which I never do anymore. It has probably been the best form of stress relief I have found. I love to see kids get a chance to grow as young people in a positive way and baseball affords me the opportunity to help this process along a bit. But if I were going to say anything to any of you as far as advice goes and that is store up great friendships. Money can't buy them and can't replace them. Their more valuable than gold. Share what have and it expands. I can't explain why but that is how God planned it and it has served me well. God Bless you all and if you're not to busy throw up a prayer for me that God will handle my health challenges. I believe in the power of prayer.
