video tapping BP
By: Kathy
Hi David, It's strange you should ask that - I just videotaped my son earlier today for the first time. He was using his Solohitter and I taped him from all angles. I just got a new VCR that allows me to replay it in slow motion forward and backward frame by frame. It is neat! I saw things in his swing that I remember were discussed on this board a while back. My son's swing has been highly praised by many pro's, college coaches, scouts, etc. I can now see every little detail of it and yes he does drop his hands down ever so slightly before going up and back into the launch position.(there was a big discussion about that on the board several weeks ago) The barrel of the bat is in front of his hands at the height of his launch position and he leads with his hands to the ball and rolls his wrists after contact, etc, etc...What a great tool the slow motion is! We are having a lot of fun with it. I highly recommend "The Louisville Slugger Ultimate Book of Hitting" to go with your videotaping project. It has many frame by frame photos and detailed explanations of great Major League swings. Have fun! Kathy :-)
