Bats: Wood v. Metal practice/games

Rick,

I coach LL in a league that has 9-12's playing together which I don't agree with but due to the size of our community it is hard to get the numbers. If I have a 9 or a small 10 year old I don't necessarily have them use the wood bat even in practice. With the 11 and 12 year olds though I do and I even have some of the stronger 10 yr olds use it. Their last few swings though are with aliminum for two reasons (1) We always end with a few good bunts and I see no point of bunting with wood (2) I like for them to FEEL the difference of wood vs. aluminum. Both the rec. team and the all-star teams I've coached have shown great improvement using this practice method. I also have more than one size of wood.
