What is the right bat ?
By: Paul Faubert
As far as bats go, you need to find out what the legal diameter is for your son's league. Traditionally, bats come in 2 1/4"-Youth, 25/8"-Seniors, and 2 3/4" adults. Your son should use a youth model bat. Many of these will say "Approved for Little League play" on them. As far as the difference between baseball and softball bats, I'm not real sure. Flex or snap action in a mitt sounds like the ease at which it closes around the ball. The better it is broken in, the better action you would have. While I've never heard those specific terms, that is what I would assume it means. Here are 2 links that will connect you with on-line catalogs of baseball equipment companies.
