Thankless job, fundraising...

My condolences...

It doesn't have to be the pits though. I would start by writing a fund-raising letter on league stationary. Most larger employers contribute to their workers' activities if asked. It can be as little as ten dollars, but if you have 300 kids, that's $3000. Also send the letter to EVERY business in town. Not seeking full sponsors, but whatever they can contribute. Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Rotary, Kiwanas, Chamber of Commerce, are often overlooked. With people's busy schedules, fundraising needs to accomodate. Try to innovate without re-inventing the wheel. If your goals are realistic, modest and explained, people are willing to help.

There are enough kids hawking candy at the grocery store already. People have bought enough picture frames to last a lifetime...

Service in exchange for support is an idea I'd like to see explored. Cut lawns, walk dogs, baby-sit, can be ongoing and satisfying value for value exchanges that give the kids an active role.

Good Luck!
